'Museum for Everyone' Project 2017
As part of an Arts Council England funded 18 month project, the new Link Gallery at Bankfield will open this autumn. The space is designed for collaborative local community group exhibitions. The first exhibition will be new work from the Halifax Photographic Society about the past, present and future of the area of Akroydon, Halifax. This will be shown alongside objects from Calderdale Museums' collections reflecting the unique histories of Halifax. The second exhibition, from February 2018 will be with the Textile Art Group, exploring the history of the local textile industry told through Calderdale Museums' pattern book collection and new work created by the group.
Watch out for further developments in the museum over the next 18 months including restoration work at Akroyd Library, new workshops, exhibitions, events and health and wellbeing resources. If you are part of a group interested in getting involved in this project for future exhibitions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
