‘In Her Words’- the Anne Lister Archives in Halifax

For two months Bankfield Museum will be home to some key archives of Anne Lister’s past, exploring themes of her travels, study, relationships, family and managing Shibden Hall.

The exhibition is based on the 2022 exhibition at Wakefield’s West Yorkshire History Centre, but is expanded to feature even more items, including Anne’s first and last diary entries and never displayed before collections.

These will be on display alongside key collections from Shibden hall, including Anne’s travel case, books and portraits, and some additional treasures loaned in especially for this exhibition.
