About the event
The Victorian art of hairwork involved meticulously weaving together the hair of loved ones into flowers or wreaths. Examples can be found in the “In Loving Memory” exhibition in Bankfield Museum from 20th September 2025 – 28th February 2026.
Many of these are on loan from hairdresser and conceptual artist Donna Lowson. She will be developing pieces using traditional Victorian hairwork techniques in the gallery at set times during the exhibition, while also offering opportunities for conversation with visitors.
Donna will be running a workshop on the 25th October where you will learn how to create your own hair flower. You can find out more and book on the events page.
