About the event
Have you ever wondered what those intriguing looking metal attachments that came with your vintage sewing machine can do?
This year we are offering 3 sessions with each one covering 2 different types of attachments to help you make the most of your vintage sewing machine. Come to one or join them all—no prior experience needed, and each workshop stands alone. Perfect for curious beginners and sewing enthusiasts alike!
The first of our three attachment sessions covers hemmers and braiders. You will learn how to identify and use hemmers and braiders including: narrow hemmer feet, adjustable hemmers, hemmer sets, underbraiders and braiding feet. Have a go at braiding your own monogram or decorative flourish and practice creating beautiful hems with minimal preparation.
Please do not bring your own sewing machine. All equipment including vintage sewing machines, attachments, thread, fabric and braid will be provided for you. You are welcome to bring your own box of attachments to help you with identification.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Please note, spaces are limited so booking is essential. £25 admission.
Keep an eye out for our other sets of attachment workshops, which will be on sale soon:
Friday 26th or Saturday 27th June - Binders and Rufflers
Friday 9th or Saturday 10th October - Tuckmarkers and Embroidery / Darning Feet.
