About the event

Saturday 18 July, 10am - 3pm

Following the popularity of our first repair and maintenance workshop, this second full-day session turns its focus to vibrating shuttle sewing machines, including the much-loved Singer 127 and other machines of that type.

Suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike, the day will explore how to use, care for, and maintain these robust and characterful machines, helping you better understand how they work and keep them running well.

Throughout the day, we’ll explore essential maintenance techniques, including cleaning, oiling, timing basics, and troubleshooting common issues. We’ll also look closely at the construction and mechanics of the Singer 127, giving you the knowledge to care for your own machine and keep it stitching beautifully for years to come.

Spaces are limited - book your place now and discover the enduring charm of these remarkable machines, one stitch at a time. Hot drinks and water are included and will be available throughout the day, but we ask that you bring a packed lunch with you.

Suitable for teenagers and adults. Under 18s must be accompanied by another paying participant over the age of 18.

Tickets are £35 per person.

Please note this event will be held in our Education Room, which is located on the first floor of the Museum. Please contact museum.learning@calderdale.gov.uk to discuss any access needs.
